Inclusive Teaching Specific Learning Disability - ADCET

  • Provides a lot of information on the disability, impact on learning and teaching strategies that can be employed
  • Also provides a lot of links to further webinar recordings, training and presentations on teaching strategies and dyslexia.

Adjustments enable students with disability and additional learning and support needs access to syllabus outcomes and content on the same basis as their peers.

Our specialised training facilities provide you with the opportunity to develop contemporary skills beyond general practical training. These facilities have been built in collaboration with industry - you walk out with the confidence to impress.

Located in the heart of our Perth campus, CoLab provides commerce students with the opportunity to test drive a variety of different simulated office environments, from open plan to traditional workspaces.

CoLab is both formal and informal, providing a balance between individual and collaborative learning. Students are encouraged to use the spaces to familiarise themselves with the different types of workspaces they may encounter throughout their careers. Featuring casual open plans, individual study nooks, formal conference and meeting rooms, the workspace variety encourages students to figure out which work style works best for them. Breakout spaces have been incorporated to encourage discussion, and foster cooperation with 'co-workers', as well as quieter rooms for those who prefer fewer distractions.

Students will enjoy interacting with the different spaces designed to shape an agile, adaptable and job-ready future employer.

Known as the cultural industries precinct, the vibrant Perth campus is located in the centre of the cultural area of Northbridge and is the only government training provider of Creative Industries courses.

Here students can study a wide range of areas including beauty therapy, fashion, graphic design, interior design, jewellery, media, multimedia, photography, product design and visual arts.

 

Our CUT Mine located at our Perth Campus is a unique simulated underground mine which has been used by students in surveying, geological assistant skill sets, mining exploration to gain exposure to a real underground mine environment, prior to site mobilisation.

The CUT Mine has also been used by industry for mine induction training and mines emergency rescue competition.

Both Northbridge and Joondalup (Kendrew Crescent) campuses host dedicated gym facilities; providing students with a complete industry standard training environment. Comprising of an array of cardio and resistance machines as well as free weights and specialist equipment, students are able to experience hands-on what is required to both succeed and be safe in the workplace. 

Both facilities also have a range of fitness testing equipment to teach core skills, such as tracking heart rate, measuring blood pressure, and testing fitness components. 

The fitness team are also excited to be introducing a range of innovative teaching concepts in the future, keeping up to date with changes to the industry such as virtual PTs and immersive technologies.

Located on our East Perth campus, the $17 million Green Skills Training Centre, jointly funded by the Federal and State government, earned a 6-star Green Rating for design by the Green Building Council of Australia, a rating which represents world leadership in environmentally sustainable design. It is completely self-sufficient in energy and water.

The Centre will provide green skills training for technicians in the engineering and building, design and architectural studies areas; electricians, plumbers, painters and builders; specialised green jobs in renewable energy, bio-technology, water operations and environmental management.

The Centre will also act as a demonstration centre for sustainable design and energy efficiency.

Our Health and Wellness Training campus in Joondalup features simulation nursing wards, as well as two lecture theatres and a fully operational training gym and massage centre.

The simulation hospital gives our enrolled nursing students a strong understanding of what it's like to work in a hospital environment. It is fully functional and has the capabilities to operate as an independent hospital if required in an emergency.

Our Mount Lawley campus is known for its focus on health services, and houses a simulated hospital learning environment.​

Our specialist metals and engineering centre in Midland has been built to ensure a focus on new technologies and the integration of these technologies across traditional trade and industry sectors.

Students learn high speed, high precision operations in a safe environment on a range of various programmable automated equipment. They’re exposed to up-to-date computer controlled machining technology and they’ll gain skills in industrial robotics and component design using current industry standard computer-aided design.

We are also an industry leader in delivery of fluid power training.

Our METRONET Trades Training Centre is located at our Midland campus. This specialised facility will train WA workers for jobs in the sector.  

We are working with METRONET, the Public Transport Authority and key project stakeholders to develop specific training to ensure workers are skilled to support the construction and maintenance phases of the project.  

Midland TAFE is well placed to train WA workers for futures in railcar manufacturing, with course options available to meet the diverse METRONET training needs, including engineering, metal fabrication, instrumentation and electrotechnology.

This centre at our East Perth campus provides state-of-the-art facilities for training in the mining industry and will provide students with the opportunity to develop sought after skills based on highly practical training programs using industry standard facilities.

It will enable the State to better respond to industry demand, providing specialised training in mining exploration, mineral processing, geology, and gold assaying.

The Centre has a core yard where students hoping to become Field Assistants or Pit Technicians can interpret the geology of a drill core (rock sample).

It also has a Fire Assay Laboratory where students can learn how to extract gold or any of the base metals from a mineral sample. Plus for those interested in careers in the exploration/mineral drilling side, there is a 4-wheel drive training and maintenance facility.

Based on our Leederville campus, our music programs have a fine history of producing great music talent. Our lecturers are also prominent WA music industry figures. 

We have an industry standard professional recording studio and live performance venue with full staging, lighting and sound production. We even host our very own student radio station, BOOM Radio.

All of our dentistry courses are run from the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia (OHCWA) in Nedlands.

The centre is an alliance between ​North Metropolitan TAFE, the University of Western Australia and Curtin University and part of the University of WA site.

It provides state of the art training equipment, facilities and expertise in the field of dentistry, giving our students hands-on experience in a modern simulated dental surgery setting.

Our 1400 square metre plumbing training facility at our Balga campus is one of the best of its kind in the state.

The facility facilitates flexible teaching and learning practices with classrooms opening into the workshop area. There is also an external covered area to practice trenching and sewerage piping, with an overhead sprinkler system to keep the sand damp while digging.

Based at Mount Lawley, Roaming Education and Community Health (REACH) is a training and primary health care initiative that delivers health services to the community and provides clinical training opportunities for our enrolled nursing students under the direct supervision of registered nurses.

Our Midland campus is the only state training provider of signcrafts training in WA.

Students have access to the Flecknoe Thermoform/Vacuumform training machine which can produce the type of illuminated sign you’d see outside your typical fast-food outlet (amongst other things). The machine is worth almost $80,000 and virtually 100% Australian made, using agile, innovative Australian design concepts.

Our Leederville based sport courses facilitate the opportunity to participate in a range of industry-current activities. 

With access to both multi sporting and coaching equipment, as well as a wide range of sport specific testing tools, sport students have access to the fully equipped Northbridge gym. The Sport team work closely with key stakeholders in WA providing students with access to the latest events, training techniques and industry opportunities. The Sport team is also developing immersive technology training, to keep up to date with industry advancements.
